Learn to swim

Catering for all skill levels, our learn to swim and squad training sessions allow children to be placed into small sized classes aligned with their swimming ability. Whether they are getting their first exposure to swimming; learning all four strokes; or mastering their racing techniques our classes will help them to continue to grow and develop their skills.

Learn to swim levels

LEVEL 1

  • Ability to enter pool on own
  • Basic floating
  • Perform safe entry
  • Blow bubbles
  • Keep eyes open underwater
  • Float and streamline
  • Move through water unaided with basic kicking and arm strokes, on front and back
  • Retrieve objects from the pool bottom at the shallow end
LEVEL 2

4 per class

  • Level 1 outcomes
  • Kick 25 metres with board
  • Correct freestyle breathing technique
  • Basic backstroke
  • Introduction to breaststroke and diving
  • Retrieve objects from pool bottom at deep end
LEVEL 3

5 per class

  • Level 2 outcomes
  • Correct technique for 25 metres of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke
  • Introduction to butterfly
  • Correct dive
TRANSITION SQUAD

6 per class

  • Level 3 outcomes
  • Ability to swim up to 500m per lesson
  • Self disciplined
  • ≥ 6 years
  • Perform a dive from the starting block
  • Technical improvement and introduction to drills in freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke
  • Further development of butterfly
  • Improved fitness
  • Ability to train in harmony with others

Learn to swim Classes will run Monday to Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings at the following times:

Mon – Thurs 3.15pm, 3.45pm, 4.15pm and 4.45pm for 30mins – Sat 8.00am, 8.30am. 9.00am, 9.30am

 

Due to the popularity of our lessons, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are unsure what level your child is, our qualified instructors are available to assist you. We recommend, for your child to achieve the best results, attending two lessons per week.
